Art in Asbury Park
Jen Hampton opened Parlor Gallery in 2009 in Asbury Park, NJ, which presents a unique vision in New Jersey’s art community and feature innovative work by some of the best emerging and established artists. They curate exhibits the public may not ordinarily have access to outside of a large urban environment within a welcoming, creative, and inspirational space. The Gallery provides a venue for both talented young artists who’ve never exhibited as well as internationally collected and established artists. In the last few years, Parlor has begun to curate other venues, pop-up exhibits and participate in art fairs such as SCOPE Miami and NYC.
With Parlor Gallery’s innovative curation, they hope to expose, educate, and provide guidance to novice and seasoned collectors alike. Parlor curates 10-12 exhibitions a year, as well as assists their patrons with commissions and art placement. Parlor Gallery is artist directed and curated.
In addition to the curation for Parlor Gallery, Jen has collaborated with Madison Marquette to curate and create the Wooden Walls Public Art Project for the Asbury Park Boardwalk. A dynamic project consisting of 27 world renowned artists, a work in progress. Through their efforts to bring public arts to Asbury Park, they create opportunities for artists to work and experience the Asbury Park community.
