Indie-Folk Artist Renee Maskin
Renee Maskin is a singer-songwriter from the vibrant music city of Asbury Park, NJ. She combines earthy traditional song craft with synthy ambient textures, a sound that’s both familiar and unconventional.
Having cut her teeth in bands over the past couple decades, Maskin's solo debut Swimming was recorded in 2020 as a result of the pandemic lockdown. UK's The Rodeo hailed it as "indie-folk at its finest" as it climbed the NACC charts. Her follow-up EP, Dreams A River, expands on the folk traditions of Maskin’s sonic palate while also keeping experimental moments in frame.
Maskin formerly fronted indie-rock group Lowlight, a run that included four acclaimed studio albums and a tour opening for Pretenders. Before then, she played in bands ranging from prog-punk to alt-country to somber folk. In 2021, she signed to Mint 400 Records.
On the heels of the Dreams a River EP, a full-band LP is due in early 2023 featuring Mike Noordzy and Ben Ross of Mothguts.
