Have you ever tried herbal medicine?

Have you ever tried herbal medicines? Have you used elderberry syrup before, or took a swig of some fire tonic and made your eyes water? Whether or not you have, it is certainly something to explore and Mayernik Kitchen in Pompton Plains takes the time to make sure you are educated on how their products can help so you can make the best decision for your health. The owners, Shannon Mulligan-Mayernik and her husband Matt launched this idea essentially sitting on a mountain of oregano and seven years later they are offering their products in their very own store front!

Segment 1
Shannon discusses how their business started. Originally a subscription box company (which did not do well), Shannon and Matt refocused their vision on what they were growing and creating projects that they loved, used and wanted to share.

Today in New Jersey History: The "Seashores Finest Train" , the Blue Comet started making its runs from Jersey City to Atlantic City on February 21st 1929 and would continue transporting people along the coast until 1941.

Segment 2
Shannon breaks out an elderberry syrup, a fire tonic, and a tincture. She walks us through the process of how they are made, what they are supposed to help with, and how they help customers make the best decisions for their health. They are not anti-western medicine, they simply are trying to give people the best opportunity to be healthy!

New Jersey Fun Fact: Cheerleading was started in Princeton in 1869.

Segment 3
Education is key to Mayernik Kitchen's relationship with their community. They hold classes in their kitchen and out in the field to not only teach them what the products do, but how to actually make them! Mayernik Kitchen has a strong relationship with Pompton Plains, being a part of the renaissance happening in the downtown area. They're looking to host more workshops, more events, and help teach and spread the word to people who may not have tried these things before!
